Hey everyone!
I wanted to share a free online drinking game I made. It’s super simple to play: just add the players’ names, and press play. The game has over 3,200 cards and is available in English, Spanish, and Polish (with more languages coming soon :D).
I originally built this thing about two years ago using PHP, JavaScript, and HTML/CSS, but I recently gave it a major overhaul. Now it’s rebuilt with Astro, TypeScript, Tailwind, and a proper database.
Key points:
- Astro drastically improved load times.
- Tailwind made development way faster.
- I deployed it on Deno Deploy and used Turso for the database—both have amazing free tiers that were perfect for this project.
The game includes:
- Question cards for random prompts or challenges.
- “Game” cards for fun mini-games.
- “Virus” cards (e.g., “Alex is now blind—if he opens his eyes, he drinks”).
