We started working on UserLog in December, and just 32 days later, we launched our free beta. The very next day, we had our first 20 users—thanks to a single Reddit post. All of this while both of us were working full-time, 40+ hours a week.

Here’s how we pulled it off and what we learned along the way:

Work hard

Looking for a quick hack? Sorry, that’s not how it works. We were fortunate that our jobs are flexible, but the truth is, we’ve been working at a brutal pace—80-100 hours per week. Here’s a trick that worked for us: Get up an hour earlier to focus on marketing and key tasks for your project. I typically wake up at 5 AM to work on UserLog, then switch to my work from 8 AM to 5 PM. After that, I get back to the project until 9:30 PM, before winding down for the night.

This level of effort isn’t sustainable long-term, but for now, it’s essential. No shortcuts here—just pure dedication.

Build up routine

Speed comes from repetition. That’s why building a solid routine is key. Structure your daily plan, especially for tasks that need to be repeated. The more consistent you are, the faster you’ll move forward. It’s all about getting into a rhythm and sticking with it.

Use AI to accelerate coding

We’ve been building projects in PHP for years, but for UserLog, we made the switch to React. It was tough at first, but now it helps us move much faster. But the real game-changer came when we integrated an Chat GPT into our IDE. This tool has boosted our coding speed by at least 300%. It’s a total hack for keeping development efficient.

Ship early and gather feedback FAST

We started gathering feedback even before our beta was ready. A simple Reddit post showcasing one of our upcoming features generated a ton of interest and added people to our waitlist. The same happened when we launched the beta. Did everything go perfectly? Definitely not. We’re still working on deeper engagement with users, sending out follow-up emails, and addressing feedback. But the beauty of it is that we have real data to help us make quick fixes and improvements.

Launching a product while juggling full-time work isn’t easy, but by staying focused, using the right tools, and staying agile, we’ve been able to move faster than we expected.
